Felt Kanzashi Adventure continued......

So I have been a little quiet in the kanzashi scene because of the regency event but now I have some free time I thought I would get back on the kanzashi making.

Kusudama is one of my favourite kanzashi to make.  They are just adorable to look at.

These ones are a little different to the ones I use to make in that they are brooches as well.

And since it is Autumn / Fall, I thought it would be nice to make them in the colours of the seasons.

The grey one is particular apt for me since I am going to be seeing grey skies for a long time.

But then again, seeing the golden leaves in the Botanical Garden is quite nice.

And purple because I love purple.

Corsage brainstorming - part 2

So yesterday I made my first official corsage and today I thought I would combine a bit of musubi technique into the making.

There is a way of gathering the obi to make a round petal so I applied the same technique on a piece of organza and then applied a couple of white roses.

Okay this picture does not do the corsage any justice at all!

That is much better.

Of course I could sew on pearls, add stamens, use different colours and generally bling it up!  

Maybe I should......

I Love Kanzashi - Muted Green Kanashi Hairband and boutonniere

This kanzashi set is made using the same principle as Candy Amore which I talked about a couple of days ago

We often see kanzashi being made using very girlie colours but I understand that not everyone can wear such colours so when I saw this piece of fabric, I thought why not use it to make a tsumami kanzashi.

I used the traditional ume or plum blossom flower arrangement for this one and in addition, I used some gold mizuhiki corde to finish it off.

If you are wondering what mizuhiki cord is then it is Japanese paper cord!  It is often used to make adornments for their cards and they come in all sorts of colour.  It is quite stiff to use has a nasty habit of unravelling especially if you are doing some knot decoration with it.
